Joint Pain
Joint Studio

Our doctors understand the frustration of joint pain, which is why they are dedicated to providing exceptional treatment and achieving results and relief for you.

At our clinic we offer three approaches to joint pain:

  • Cortisone injections

  • Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections

  • Hyaluronic Acid Injections

Cortisone Injections

A cortisone injection is used to provide temporary pain relief to a joint. Our experienced doctors will inject a mixture of steroids (Cortisone), anaesthetics and anti-inflammatories into a joint through a needle.  While this can give short term relief often PRP injections which can restore function by enabling the body to repair, replace and regenerate damaged ageing or diseased cells and tissues is a better approach.

PRP Therapy

PRP therapy is a new regenerative procedure which harnesses the healing properties of your own blood to significantly improve symptoms and eliminate the need for medications, cortisone injections or surgery.

Performed safely at our practice, by our experienced physicians, PRP therapy relieves pain without the risks of surgery, general anaesthesia, or hospital stays and without a prolonged recovery. In fact, most people return to their jobs or usual activities right after the procedure.

PRP injections  have been shown to be extremely successful in the treatment of osteoarthritis and tendon Injuries.

Hyaluronic Acid Injections

Your body makes hyaluronic acid. It's a natural part of the fluid that helps lubricate and cushion your joints and keeps them working smoothly.

When you have osteoarthritis(OA), the hyaluronic acid in the affected joint thins. Hyaluronic acid injections add to your body's natural supply. You may hear your doctor refer to these injections as "viscosupplementation," which literally means they help the fluid in your joints.

Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave therapy has been found to be an effective treatment for tendon injuries and orthopaedic conditions.  It addition to providing immediate pain relief, it has also been found to be effective for promoting tendon repair. It does this by stimulating the growth of new blood vessels into the tissues, promoting growth factors, increasing cell proliferation, decreasing inflammation and mobilising stem cells.  Shockwave therapy delivers energy pulses to the affected area. This increases the blood flow to the target area, promoting faster and more effective healing. In this way, shockwave therapy helps the body resume its natural healing process.
